Why do some webpages only show a URL link?

Sometimes when I use Push to Kindle, certain website pages do not display/create the actual website text and images? Is there a work around to this problem? Thank you!

Hello @DouglasSpratt and welcome to the forums.

1.)
Every website is different. P2K is trying to predict, which parts of an article are relevant and which are not. Sometimes that works out of the box, sometimes parts are missing, sometimes we have some unnecessary navigation elements in the excerpt or teasers to other articles, etc. In most cases it then helps to write a site config for that domain. To do so, we need to have some URLs of articles and a short explanation what is missing or disturbing. Please post direct article links, not only the domain. Then we can have a look on them. Currently we have 2000+ site depended configs

2.)
Some websites using JavaScript or mechanics to prevent loading of the content by non-human systems aka bots, scrapers, server software like P2K. In most of these cases the P2K server is not able to catch the content itself. You then need to install the P2K browser extension (desktop only) or the bookmarklet (mobile and desktop). These are able to take the content, that your browser has already fetched/interpreted and send the hole content to P2K servers instead of just the URL.

3.)
In some rare cases, non of the things above might help. But send us your URLs and we will see. Preferably separate forum topics per domain.

Dear Holger: Thank you for your welcome and your explanation. I can see that there are a number of challenges in preparing a suitable Kindle read and have appreciated the final outcome of many sites. I am using Brave and have installed the Chrome plug-in per your P2K browser extension link. I’m not sure how to post “direct article links” but will try to send you a screenshot as well as the URL.

You posted the article URL: https://www.fromreformationtoreformation.com/post/lampe-on..., which is all we need. Don’t post the p2k-link.

I had a short look on it. When deactivating JavaScript in browser, all Text will be shown, but images are blured out.

So we should be able to get at least the text. For the images I need a deeper look. Maybe I find the time tomorrow.

@DouglasSpratt, I just wrote a config for this domain and you should now be able to catch all the content including images.

So, try again please
