Push to Kindle doesn't retrieve the whole archive of a New York Times Magazine article

Hi there,

I’m trying to use Push to Kindle on this archive of a New York Times Magazine article: https://web.archive.org/web/20211116212741/https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/16/magazine/jane-campion-power-of-the-dog.html but Push to Kindle does not seem to retrieve the whole article.

Can you help?

Thanks

Hi there,

Is there a reason you can’t use the non-archived version? If you don’t get the full content you can try clicking ‘Edit’ on the preview side of the screen and then switching off ‘Use browser-retrieved content’. It should result in something like this: https://pushtokindle.fivefilters.org/send.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2021%2F11%2F16%2Fmagazine%2Fjane-campion-power-of-the-dog.html

Push to Kindle uses the domain name in the URL to check if there are site-specific extraction rules available. When you load articles from the Internet Archive, the New York Times extraction rules don’t get applied. That’s something we should perhaps improve for articles loaded via the Internet Archive in this way as the source URL is available to us.

Hi there,

Thanks very much for this! That URL you provided worked perfectly.

The reason I wasn’t using the non-archived version is I had hit my maximum number of free New York Times.com articles for the month. But switching off ‘Use browser-retrieved content’ by passes that limit so I should be able to use non-archived versions going forward.

Cheers
