Not able to get all articles from torontolife.com

Previously, I was able to push articles from torontolife.com to my Kindle. They’ve made some layout changes and it’s no longer possible for some articles. (Some articles on the site still work fine.)

  1. Pushing this article sends the wrong one (instead I get one about a cottage).
The 50 Most Influential Torontonians of 2022

  2. This article isn’t seen properly by P2K.
"I spent five years in a white-power gang": Inside the twisted world of Toronto's white supremacist movement

Thank you.

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for letting us know.

The site does appear to have a mix of content templates, which makes it a little tricker to work with. But we’ve updated our extraction rules to handle articles like the first one better, so if you try that again it should work.

The second article is quite odd in that the content appears to be hosted externally by a company called Strategic Content Labs: https://contentlabs.ca. The actual URL that loads and holds the content is: https://elementor.contentlabs.ca/white-lies-sf/

You can either load that use Push to Kindle on it, or if you use the original URL you posted, you should be able to get the content now if you follow the steps below:

  1. On the preview screen click ‘Edit’
  2. Switch off ‘Use browser-retrieved content’

You should see something like this:

Oh wow, that’s incredible. Thank you. I never knew the “Use brower-retrieved content” could be used to do this. I’ll try that next time as well.
