Need Help with URL

Hi,
I am trying to get this url working (some sort of aggregated content):
https://www.nau.ch/news/stadler-rail

But with this XPATH it does not work:
/html/body/nau-root/div/ng-component/div/div/nau-standard-overview-shell/nau-standard-overview/div/nau-article-list/div[1]

Can anybody help me? Thx in advance, Axel

Hi there, please note that Feed Creator does not currently work with XPaths. You’ll need CSS selectors. We have a guid here which might help you: How to turn a webpage into an RSS feed using Feed Creator - Part 2 - FiveFilters.org

Hi,
well, every webpage has it’s own individual structure. For my request it seems to not work…

BTW: Why is the documentation (https://fivefilters.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/categories/360002895139-Feed-Control) different from the self hosted version of feed control? E.g. I cannot preselect to create a feed from a twitter account, although the hosted version does have that feature? Maybe I missed that info anywhere?

Cheers
Axel

Hi Axel,

well, every webpage has it’s own individual structure. For my request it seems to not work…

Many XPath selectors can be re-written in a simpler way as CSS selectors. Here, for example, is one way of getting an RSS feed from the page you linked:

BTW: Why is the documentation (https://fivefilters.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/categories/360002895139-Feed-Control) different from the self hosted version of feed control? E.g. We currently offer 3 feed-related tools: Feed Creator, Full-Text RSS and Feed Control. The documentation you linked is for our Feed Control product - we don’t currently offer a self-hosted version of Feed Control. We’ve written about the differences between the three here: https://www.fivefilters.org/2020/feed-control-comparison/

Hope that’s some help.

Thanks for the initial help … Highly appreciated.

But on my personal hosted version of feedcontrol I get an “Sorry, couldn’t process the request” error! The only thing I changed is the requirement for having an access key, which I provided in the form (otherwise there would have have been a different error message).

I’ve tried to change the php version from 8.0 to 7.4, but no effect.

Compatibility Test

Your webhost has its act together!

Thx, Axel

Hi again,

Are you able to provide the URL in your browser’s address bar after you click ‘Preview’ in Feed Creator? That will help us figure out what’s going on. You can email it to us at help@fivefilters.org

Sent you an email … Thx.
