In a perfect world

In a perfect world, I would be a coder and I would know how to do things myself. But this is not a perfect world, and I am barely competent in computer operation. So, I have to beg people who are smarter than I am for help.

Is there any way to limit the number of characters or words imported with the full-text RSS software? I use the software to actively find and organize information, but my problem is that the software works too well. No matter what I do, I get really dumb Huffington Post articles that go on for 10,000 words, and they are always followed by slideshows that do not work.

If I could somehow tell full-text RSS to import only the first 400 words of an article in a RSS feed, or if I could only find someone who was competent at this.

Any ideas how to limit the number of words imported by modifying full-text RSS?
