I’ve read the news, that FiveFilter won’t be for free anylonger very soon.
90% of the RSS-feeds I have created for free in past years, I made for non-profit reasons. The transition of the good old Feed Creator to ai-pimped Feed Control by January 15th will damage grass-root free media projects.
Hi there,
It hasn’t been sold. We have set up Mochi Digital to manage the software side of things separately from FiveFilters.org - which will be more focused on media activism (its original purpose). Same small team working on the software.
The reason for the change with Feed Creator is because it is difficult to maintain the service for free. It requires work and server maintenance to manage the load. We’ve tried our best to do it for as long as we can.
Any existing feeds generated via Feed Creator will continue to work if they’re added to a paid Feed Control account - even if you have no intention of using Feed Control itself. So no need to update URLs.
And Feed Creator can be purchased for self hosting - we are even considering a free, open source version.
